USS Michael Murphy (DDG-112) was commissioned by the United States Navy in 2012 as an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer. The ship was named in honor of Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, a Navy SEAL officer who received the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions during Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan.
As part of the highly successful Arleigh Burke-class program, the vessel was built to perform a wide range of missions, including missile defense, anti-submarine warfare, and carrier strike group protection. Its advanced combat systems and operational flexibility continue to make it a key asset within the U.S. Navy fleet.
